What is Our Relationship with You
The following is really, really important. It's not that we don't like IT people. We love them. We actually are IT people. But you do not have to be an IT person to go far with Quickbase in your organization. Quickbase is so easy to use that you do not need to be an IT geek to learn how to build excellent apps with it. All you need is to 1) learn how to do the basic work, and 2) have our team back you up, and make you a shining star for your stakeholders. In the two decades we have been "teaching to fish" we have taught Office Administrators, Organizational / Process / Work Flow Managers, Quality Control Managers, Executives at the top, and Entrepreneurs just starting their companies. Each of the actual relationships that I just listed have lasted for many years.
On-the-Job Teaching
Quickbase is most rewarding when clients learn from our building their app(s) together. Classroom teaching does not "stick" unless participants are building tools for their organization.
This teaching model has been proven over the last two decades. Typically a client knows they "want to be in the driver's seat on their app". From then on learning is simple, cost effective, and rewarding. You might have just opened your Quickbase account, or may need help deploying best practices in apps built many years ago. Share your visions so we can assess them together; then we will work bring them to life.
Maybe you or your team needs to create a dozen new fields and build or modify form rules. That is a great learning opportunity! Those repetitions can help build confidence, and empower stakeholders to attain new capacity! Rather than paying us to configure the fields, you learn-by-doing. Plus you minimize back-and-forth user-testing and spec re-generation cycles. When new specs emerge your builder(s) can learn new functional paradigms. The goal is for clients to become Quickbase wizards. The more you learn, the more you will like Quickbase, and the more your team will thrive using your Quickbase apps. This makes our Quickbase work together more successful.
You already have a clearer understanding of your company's operational work than your teacher ever will. Your visions for Quickbase projects will
be better than ours from the start,
have laser focus on future goals (which you may not have even shared with us yet), and
make your stakeholders more satisfied in meetings and around the water cooler!
When you ask about more complex functionalities, it might be best for us to build them on our own time, and then to share how those newly built functionalities work. You can gain enough familiarity with the functionalities to customize them afterwards, or even copy them over to other apps. Your in-house working knowledge will cause stakeholders' satisfaction to skyrocket.
You are the Key Quickbase Person in Your Company, Not Us
Our key mantra is to develop Quickbase know-how inside your company. Then when your cohorts ask for new functionality, you will already know enough to
ask them the KEY details of their planned functionality, and
describe how their interfaces might best be constructed and used.
With no Quickbase skill inside your organization, your cohorts would need our third-party help continuously. They would have to describe to us the details of how your company works, and give us their best guesses of what they actually want. However, with your wizard skills in house, your stakeholders can move more agilely to create their visions. Most importantly you know the fine details of how your company works already, and you won't need to spend time educating our external development team.
How Available are We
Although we prefer to schedule larger pieces of work in advance, you can always call us on a momentary whim if you suddenly need help. We will try to answer your call immediately, or return it quickly. Most importantly, you don't need to beat your head against the proverbial wall. Just call. Sample App Templates
Also, Quickbase is unusual, in that there are no limits to what you can build with it. You can even download free sample apps from the Quickbase Exchange. We highly recommend doing this. Often you might decide that those downloads serve only as inspirational starting points. We do that often! Downloading apps is easy, and deleting them is equally easy. Once you get an idea of how your app can be built, and decide how you want to do that, then go right ahead and start building it from scratch. You already have some wizardry, and our team is always here to answer questions and teach you more! That's what we love most about Quickbase.
